foodie afternoon in york

In August I met a friend for lunch at Skosh on Micklegate, where we saw the trout being cured for their famous wild sea trout cured in molasses with peanuts and lime. And for dessert we at last got to taste Chef Neil Bentinck’s amazing mango lassi, with a saffron custard doughnut.

After lunch I took a stroll through the streets of York for a catch up with Josh and the team at Le Cochon Aveugle, and I had my first visit to their superb new wine bar, Cave du Cochon. With its sunny courtyard, knowledgeable staff, oodles of wines available by the glass and charcuterie to nibble on, I will be back again very soon.

York is such a food lovers paradise, with some fantastic independent restaurants, offering sublime food and so much choice.
